Wednesday

Projects.
Oodles of projects underway or almost underway.
Below are a couple of experiments.
The orange/red yarn is Panda from Silk City and its cotton, bamboo, and elastic nylon. Wanted to try materials for bikini's. We'll see. Unknown territory here.

The aqua blue is from Silk City as well and its 100% bamboo. Really like the feel and drape of this yarn and hope to make this into a cardigan soon. The pattern for this has been taking a while to write up because I decided to take on the set-in sleeve. Ugh, I have never been that good at sewing in set-in sleeve's, and designing them is a headache. It seems like it will get much easier once I come up with a formula I like.

The velvet ribbons are inspiration. The fabric store in my neighborhood has a little back room that is full of ribbons, I usually just go in for some eye candy but the other day I could not resist these two.

Today I packaged up a bunch of goodies and sent off the last package to the person I'm spoiling for the SP10. Its been fun planning and gathering all the stuff to put in the box. Hope they like.

Seems like I might be going to New Mexico next week, will find out for sure tomorrow.

Night Night

Friday

Went in to a bead store and came out with buttons.
I love the idea of using the yellow and green ones with maybe a grey or brown yarn. Nice little pop of color.

And the hearts, well I just could not resist the hearts. I don't think I'll use them as buttons, but they might inspire me to make a necklace or bracelet.

Thursday

Una.
So she's taken to lying in my lap a bit more lately. I love it so much it makes me melt.
However, I have noticed that she most often comes to me when I'm working on my BLACK cotton cardigan, which is now more grey than black. Perhaps she's using me to get near the black cotton, sigh.........oh well.

Wednesday

Posting.
Sorry its been so lame lately, been in a bit of a funk and lost a fight with the stomach flu, but determined to not let it get the better of me.

This cardigan was fun to design, it was made in two pieces with seam down the back and the two sideseams. Yarn is RY Cashcotton DK and it was very unpleasant to use on the machine. Had to go everyother needle and was stiff. Like the last one its okay but not great, I will wear it so I believe its a bit of a success. It was fun experimenting with the crochet finishing, I wanted it to ripple or ruffle or something and boy it sure does it. I might redo the back seam, it only sorta ripples and its gotta be more or less. Sorry for the poor, poor photos.

Thursday

Ribber.
So I had a birthday last week, a really good one in many ways.
One reason is that E got me a ribber for my machine. It was a really cool, thoughtful, sweet, gift.
I'm so excited, it like opens up a whole new world for me.

Below is my very first swatch, yeah, one by one rib with numerous dropped stitches for special effect.

I can now also knit in the round on the machine, so I could do socks on the machine now. Actually did a sock today on the machine but it is a sorry sight. It took me forever but learned oodles.

Sunday

Finished scarves just in time for summer.
The first one was done on the machine. Its two layers sewn together and I played around with more crochet for the fringe. I finished this one a little bit ago but it took me forever to get to the blocking, which made a big difference in how it lays flat. I used two different kinds of yarn: I think RY Cashcotton 4 Ply for the stripes and Dalegarn Baby Ull for the charcoal grey.

This one is a handknit that I finished ages ago but just got to blocking this as well. The yarn is Rowan Big Wool Tuft done in garter stitch on size 35 needles.

I love making scarves and wearing them but I'll just have to wait till fall and winter, sigh.
