Thursday

Sundays Are Trouble.
Seattle is so cool. Sunday started out fairly innocently, knitting at Cafe Fiore, you know good coffee, knitting, and conversation. But lingering in the back of my mind latley was the knowledge of Kinokuniya right here in Seattle, and I had that itch for some inspiring craft books. Well we went and it was so much fun. Below is a result of that fun.

I love this book, Fleuristes a Paris, ISBN 4072467065. Its all about flowers and flower shops in Paris, lovely and inspiring for my new job. This book is part of the same series that has Scandinavian Kitchens, Paris Kitchens, etc. , Jeu de Paume.

Below is Handmade Style Interior, East and West, ISBN 4072500569. Its artists home/studios, similar to Jeu de Paume books. All the spaces feel light, airy, handmade, and comfy. I am such a sucker for books like these, oh well, its time to go through books and rid myself of a few since I've aquired some latley. Thats the deal I made with myself, if I aquire new books I need to get rid of some.

This weekend I'm going to Port Townsend, my challenge tomorrow is to see if I can pack light. Think I'll just bring sock knitting with me.

Tuesday

I've actually grown something.
Look C.F., I actually made your gift grow. It started coming up just a few days before I got the flower shop job, hmmmm.

I don't think I've ever grown anything before.
Lets see if I can keep it alive.

Saturday

Last Sunday.
I'm a bit late in getting around to posting about it but last week I went on a knitting trip to Churchmouse Yarns and Teas on Bainbridge island and had a really good day and ah well evening as well. Seriously the knitting day started at noon and I got home after ten. It was good yarn, knitting, lunch, knitting, jasmine ice cream, knitting, ferry ride, and more knitting.

Its so nice knitting on the ferry, outside with the sun, breeze and a great view of the city.

And then The Pink Door, its awesome. Gotta say we just drank so I cannot talk about the food but the atmosphere is really cool and interesting. Anyways Nichole, Kate and I drank , knit , and got very giggly, at least I did. It was really a good time.

The Missoni socks have been coming along nicely and quickly. I'm so excited about the colors, love working on it. I think after this pair I'll go back to the double pointed aluminum's, the Bryson needles aren't smooth enough, or maybe slippery enough for me.

I actually did not have to pull out any of my knitting the next day.

Friday

Deception Pass.
So this last weekend I got taken to Deception Pass, wow, it is so cool. The height, bridges, colors, water, current, seaweed, sun, shadows, trees, beach, rocks, napping on a log on the beach, walking on trails in the forest, going from coolness in forest to sun and warmth on the beach. The day ended with an outdoor movie party in someones garden with Thai food, popcorn, and homemade ice cream.

Deception Pass

Thursday

So this inspired me to work on socks again. Time to kick it into gear so I have plenty to wear in the colder weather, especially when working in the flower shop since its outside.

I actually finished my disco socks. About fr***** time! Poor things sat around more than half done for months. Well their done and I love them, all pink and sparkly.

The yarn is Schoeller and Stahl Fortissima Colori Disco, color o5. I knit them on double pointed two's, sixty stitches seems to work for me and I'm about a size 8.

The flower shop thing is good, its crazy, glad its part time. Feeling a little annoyed by some parts of it but hope it will smooth over once I get the hang of things. Favorite part is putting together a bouquet on the spot with the customer right there, where you get an idea of what they want and then you get to pick out the flowers. It is odd when your helping a male customer pick out flowers for their wife/girlfriend whatever and they are making the moves on you at the same time. Getting use to it, and I better cause it happens all the time.

Saturday

Happened upon this last night on the way to dinner.
Please excuse the bad photography, mobile phone camera.
Its knit.

Its funny one of the friends I was with sent me this
article from The Stranger the day before.
I'm the luckiest kntter.
I'm working, I'm working.
Part time at a flower shop in one of the craziest parts of Seattle and I love it. I know, I know, I can hear you all cracking up. Somewhat unlikely but it sounded fun, they hired me on the spot, and I'm learning.

Just keeping on the flower theme a bit. The knit group I left behind (sigh) in Boston, made me a card and all chipped in and got me a gift card for a local knit shop in Seattle. Thanks guys you're the best!

It gets even better.
Now staying on the gift theme.
I recieved these two lovely Lorna's Laces and a small individual chocolate/rasberry tart from a really sweet guy. Wow.

Thought I'd add this photo of Una just for kicks. You wouldn't think she'd fit but she does, kind of.

So all this new knitting yarn has inspired me to pull out my Disco socks and finish them so I can start on some new ones. Tough choice either the Missoni or Lorna's Laces. Hmmmm.
Starsky is taking a rest however I hope to finish Ms. Marigold this weekend and pick up Starsky again.

Friday

Triple Score.
So this last Sunday I took a bus out to West Seattle to hang out on the beach and knit with a friend who lives out that way. Wouldn't you know it just as we're getting to the beach it starts to rain. So we had no choice but to go to the local yarn store to wait out the rain, seriously no choice.
The Yarn Gallery has lots, lots, and lots of yarn, yummy yarn, like I'm amazed I made it out of there with just three things.
Oh but the three things were total must have, been looking for finds.
The yarn below is what got me yearning to knit socks. I love the colors and it knits up in great chunky stripes. I haven't looked for this in awhile but when I did I couldn't find this colorway anywhere. I was so completly happy when I found this.

Its Fortissima Colori Socka Missoni which I ended up knitting my first pair of socks with in a different colorway.

My next moment of extreme happiness was when I found this Patons Street Smart pattern book, it has the Must Have Cardigan pattern that I have been drooling over for awhile. You can get this but I never really wanted to order just that online and pay the shipping.

To the left of the patternbook are Bryson double pointed needles that I have been wanting to try for awhile and will do so with the Missoni yarn.
So we never made it to the beach but the rest of our Sunday was spent eating really good cheap food and knitting outside on a front porch with a really cool view.
It was one of those good yarn tingling days.
